About the book
Artful Animals was created by Stella Barnes to provide a fun, interactive way to discover facts about domestic animals. Colourful paintings depict animals in humorous situations, showcasing at least one of their many extraordinary abilities.
The book includes fun, arty activities such as creating an animal lover’s ID, drawing pet portraits, colouring, and puzzles. There is a scavenger hunt with two levels of difficulty and a glossary for those who are keen to learn more.
The book is 40 pages, A4 size in either hardback or paperback. It is suitable for either confident readers to explore alone, or to be read aloud with bite-sized sharing facts.
Schools and groups
Stella has many years' experience speaking at schools, clubs and organisations. Her talks are always tailored to the audience to provide an engaging, informative session.
The talk, Artful Animals, includes the original paintings used in the book, funny animations, and an interactive, fun delivery to make little-known yet extraordinary animal facts even more memorable. If suitable, there is also audience participation.
Ideally, sponsorship for the event means that every member of the audience has a copy of Artful Animals to take home.

About the Author
As an animal lover, a keen amateur artist and a professional writer, the idea for Artful Animals provided Stella with a wonderful opportunity to create a dream book.
Stella produced most of the artwork while travelling around UK and abroad as a pet sitter. By the time it was complete, the paintings had travelled to South East Asia twice and to parts of Europe, clocking up more than 30,000 kilometres!
When she’s not travelling, Stella lives in rural Gloucestershire, where she enjoys outdoor life, often shared with a dog she's looking after.
